I earned my MFA in fiction writing at the University of Florida where I worked with Padgett Powell and Harry Crews. I received  the Hurston/Wright Award in 1994, and was a fellow at the Center for Fiction in 2012. My fiction has appeared in The Sun, The Los Angeles Review, Bridge, The Carolina Quarterly and other publications. In 2018 I received a Pushcart special mention for my story published in African American Review. I live in Glen Cove, NY and teach writing and literature at Queensborough Community College.
